C-Glycoside DNA bases from an artificially expanded genetic information system reduce processivity in a SF2 helicase as revealed by nanopore tweezers

Artificially expanded genetic information systems (AEGISs) incorporating nucleobases beyond the standard adenine, thymine, cytosine, and guanine have been developed and used for applications such as diagnostics, information storage, and understanding the origin of life. However, these applications are limited by the availability of methods to efficiently sequence AEGISs due to the high cost of sample preparation and limited compatibility between sequencing-critical enzymes and non-standard bases.
