Challenges and Strategies for Teachers Learning and Facilitating Based on DBL

Design-based learning (DBL) is an inquiry-based learning method which is widely used across disciplines. For teachers, transforming towards a student-centered approach can be quite challenging in terms of how to prepare learning activities and how to facilitate children in their learning processes. In this paper, we present an empirical study involving 9 teachers, who participated in a training course based on DBL. This study contributes an account of the challenges that teachers face who are new to DBL and some strategies they use.
