Addressing workforce knowledge gaps in digital health

We are aware of many digital health knowledge gaps within the health workforce, most of whom are themselves oblivious to this gap. Many are not provided with opportunities to engage in digital health learning other than to learn to use and maintain systems being implemented. This needs to change. We have adopted an organisational development, change and people management focus to address digital health workforce capacity building, as this relates to the implementation of an ecosystem-wide digital transformation programme. This requires strong digital leadership at all levels within every healthcare delivery organisation as well as every global, national, or local authoritative; professional; and educational entity. Knowledge and skill competency requirements must be determined based on extended traditional, new, and emerging roles and functions that collectively provide the necessary digital health capacity best able to support every stakeholder’s contribution to a successful digital health ecosystem.
