摘要

•Nutrient streams in the North Pacific are examined using WOCE data.•Nutrient concentration increases along the nutrient streams in the subtropical gyre.•Nutrient concentration decreases along the nutrient streams in the subarctic gyre.•Along-stream nutrient concentration variation is mainly due to lateral water exchange.•Induction plays an important role in carrying nutrient to the mixed layer.
