Fish is one of the most common foods responsible for allergic reactions worldwide, particularly in Portugal, the second biggest consumer of fish per capita in the European Union.1 Its prevalence has been calculated as high as 7% in pediatric populations, and in many cases, it persists into adulthood and is potentially life-threatening.2
