Metal-organic framework based on flexible ligands and Co-II-Co-II-Co-II system: selective gas adsorption and magnetic properties

Two flexible ligands, 4,4',4 ''-(nitribtris(methylene))tribenzoic acid (H(3)TCBA) and 1,4-bis((1H-imidazol-1-yl)methypbenzene (BMB) have been used to construct a three-dimensional MOF with Co(NO3)(2)center dot 6H(2)O through solvothermal techniques. The MOF is formulated as {[Co-3(TCBA)(2)center dot BMB]center dot 3DMF center dot 8H(2)O)(n) (1). Topological analysis reveals that 1 is a 3,8-connected new net with point symbol {4(2).6}(2){4(4).6(10).7(9).8(5)}. The MOF has been characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy (IR), thermogravimetry analysis (TGA), elemental analysis, UV-visible spectrum, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), variable-temperature X-ray powder diffraction (VXRD). In addition, selective gas adsorption and magnetic properties of 1 have been explored.
