摘要
The Internet of Things (IoT) is the ability to transmit data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer communication. IoT has the effect of improving information sharing needs that result in cultivating our life. In addition, IoT is believed to have a wide range of benefits in many IoT applications such as agriculture, smart homes, healthcare, transportation, and the environment; it is also believed to have a major impact in the industry by reaching more efficient, optimized monitoring and controlling with reducing cost. IoT is expected to bring improvements and benefits to the industry, leading to the concept of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). IoT has delivered a promising chance to form powerful industrial systems and applications by leveraging the increasing ubiquity of radio-frequency identification (RFID), wireless, mobile, and sensor devices. A wide range of IIoT applications have been established and prepared in recent years in an effort to understand the development of IoT in industries [1]. IIoT is the network of intelligent and extremely connected industrial mechanisms that are organized to achieve a high production rate with reduced working costs through real-time monitoring, efficient management, and controlling of industrial processes, assets, and operational time. IIoT semantically describes a technology movement, while Industry 4.0 is associated with the expected economic impact. That is to say, IIoT leads to Industry 4.0. In this chapter, we will present an overview of the IIoT. Moreover, we will talk about IIoT architecture and framework. Also, we will discuss the challenges that the adaption of the IIoT systems has to face in the real world [1, 2].
