Iyengariella

Abstract I.yen.da.ri.el'la. N.L. fem. n. Iyengariella , named in honor of MOP Iyengar, Indian phycologist. Cyanobacteria / Subsection V / Symphyonemataceae / Iyengariella The genus Iyengariella is characterized by true and false branching. It is a filamentous cyanobacterium, with true branching dichotomous, lateral, and less commonly pseudodichotomous and inverted V‐shaped true branching. The branches end with rounded apical cells or taper, ending with whip‐like extensions. Type species : Iyengariella tirupatienis Desikachary 1953, Figures 1–18. The genus is classified within the family: Symphyonemataceae Hoffmann, Komarek and Kaštovský 2005.
