Providing Virtual Health-Related Shadowing Experiences to Combat Growing Opportunity Gaps in PreHealth Education

Abstract An important factor in applying to medical school and health professions graduate school is garnering health-related experiences such as clinical shadowing. Prehealth college students must obtain health-related experiences in order to assess whether healthcare fits the narrative of their career journey. EagleShadow (ES) is a virtual shadowing program for Boston College prehealth students and alumni that reduces current barriers to premedical career exposure to health careers due in part to increased COVID-19 restrictions, allowing students to explore health careers by engaging with professionals in the field virtually.
