摘要

•Spatio-temporal distributions of suspended sediment concentration (SSC) were retrieved from hyperspectral images.•Field-scale tracer experiments with three sediment types were conducted in open channels to obtain both the suspended sediment data and hyperspectral images from UAVs.•Optical variability according to sediment properties was investigated in detail.•A SVR model with RFE accurately reproduced the spatio-temporal SSC distributions.
