Mapping mangrove species using combined UAV-LiDAR and Sentinel-2 data: Feature selection and point density effects

•UAV-LiDAR and Sentinel-2 data provide a novel way to map mangrove species.•This study modifies the recursive feature elimination method to select features.•A new method is proposed to build an architecture diagram of important features.•10% of the initial point density (∼10 pts/m2) produces similar accuracy.
