•We present an analytical framework for large-scale multi-user CAD analytic data.•This framework enables efficient analysis of CAD design behaviors and learning.•We demonstrate the potential of multi-user CAD for team learning activities.•User analytics allows quantitative assessments of CAD design process.•This framework can lead to more responsive feedback from CAD instructors.
