Sketch guided and progressive growing GAN for realistic and editable ultrasound image synthesis

•A GAN-based framework for synthesizing realistic, high-resolution and editable US images.•Sketch guidance enhances structural details of generated images.•We adopt a progressive training strategy to stabilize training.•We propose a novel feature loss to suppress the artifacts in generated images.•Our method is solidly validated on three large US datasets.
