Outcomes in Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease and End-stage Renal Disease and Durable Left Ventricular Assist Device: Insights From the United States Renal Data System Database

•Very few patients with ESRD on maintenance dialysis undergo LVAD implantation.•Index and 1-year all-cause mortality is higher in patients with ESRD with LVAD compared with CKD.•In a multivariable Cox proportional model, ESRD is an independent predictor of mortality.•There was no significant difference in bleeding, stroke, and sepsis during follow-up between the 2 groups.•These findings will help in shared decision-making when considering LVAD placement in this cohort.
