An active continuous control method and its experiment on the rapid suppression of inverted pendulum structure oscillation

•A new active continuous control method for the mass motion trajectory is proposed.•System equivalent damping ratio is derived for the first time.•An experiment platform corresponding to the proposed model is built.•System parameters have a considerable influence on the suppression of the pendulum.
