Energy Internet: A Novel Green Roadmap for Meeting the Global Energy Demand

Energy Internet has caught an attention of the global academic community, and it is being implemented actively. This paper describes the basic features and the key structure of Energy Internet, proposes a hierarchical model, and presents key technologies, such as distributed energy storage technology, energy router technology, big data technology and blockchain, etc. It also summarizes the evolving status of Energy Internet in the US, Germany, Japan, and China. Based on the analysis, the viable implementing measurements are suggested for accelerating the realization of Energy Internet, i.e. designing a comprehensive plan for the Energy Internet based on the prevailing conditions and facts of each country, formulating related standards and policies for Energy Internet, encouraging the development of related enterprises and demonstration projects, and promoting new technologies for Energy Internet.
