•Four new dinuclear complexes, {[M2(4-C3trz)3(H2O)6]·(H2BTTC)2}n, have been synthesized.•Their molecular structure and magnetic properties have been characterized.•Heat capacity data and their responses to magnetic field have been measured.•Schottky effect and antiferromagnetic interactions have been observed.
