摘要
This study analyzed the progress and problems of localization of engines and transmissions targeting K-9 self-propelled Artillery and K-2 tanks represented among army maneuver firepower equipment. The engine, which accounts for about 48% of the global self-propelled Artillery market and is the second key component of the K-9 self-propelled Artillery to be developed independently, uses German RENK’s products. In the case of K-2 tanks, South Korea’s SNT heavy industry attempted to localize the power pack(engine and transmission) of MTU in Germany, but failed. Localization of engines and key parts that control the Army’s major maneuver firepower equipment is expected to reduce costs as well as positive economic ripple and inducement effects due to localization replacement, so we will suggest improvement and development directions by seeking current status and comprehensive alternatives.
