Deodorized distillate of sunflower oil as a source of kaurane compounds

The composition of a large-capacity byproduct of sunflower oil refining - deodorization distillate (DD) - was studied. Acidic and neutral components were identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The analysis showed the presence of five kauranoic acids and seven neutral kauranoids, which constituted up to 6% of the total weight of the DD samples studied.
