Safety factor for the punching shear resistance model in 2nd Generation of Eurocode 2

The paper deals with the evaluation of partial safety factor γV,pun for resistance properties by using the statistical evaluation of a resistance model for the prediction of punching shear capacity. The factor takes the material, model, and geometric uncertainties into account. The design model introduced in the second generation of Eurocode 2, draft 7, prEC2/D7, for the assessment of punching resistance without shear reinforcement was statistically analysed by using an extensive database of the experimental tests. Correction factor b of a model and the coefficient of variation CoV of the model error were evaluated according to Annex D in the EN1990. Statistical parameters of the basic variables in the resistance functions were assumed according to the recommendations of the JCSS Probabilistic Model Code. The comparison shows that the value of safety factor obtained from the analysis is higher than the normative value γV =1.40 set for shear and punching in prEC2.
