Mindfulness eating and body composition in the different phases of life: comparative analyses between employees from a superior teaching of sp county

The objective of this paper was to identify and compare factors connected to the practice of conscious eating and its relationship with body composition in different stages of life. The anthropometric data and the results of two questionnaires (Mindful Eating Questionnaire - MEQ and Emotional Eater Questionnaire - EEQ) of employees from a Higher Educational Institution were evaluated by age, divided into young adults and aging adults, and by gender. The main results were the aging adults of both genders and Youngs of male gender presented higher values of BMI and WHR. Only the young women were classified as emotional eaters. The MEQ analysis showed that distraction and emotional questions had more influence in feeding of young adults. The correlation of anthropometric data with EEQ had no statistical significance that would explain the higher BMI due to the emotional eater profile. It was concluded that more research is necessary in order to affirm or refute the concept of mindfulness eating might be used as a tool for the individuals ensure a healthy aging and an adequate quality of life in the future.
