•Ferromagnetic second-order type phase transition at TC = 10.5 K.•Magnetic entropy change value for Δμ0H = 5 T is ΔSMMAX = 5.7 J kg−1 K−1.•Adiabatic temperature change value for Δμ0H = 5 T is ΔTadMAX = 3.4 K.•Analysis of the critical exponents for all magnetocaloric parameters.•Master curves ΔSM comparison for magnetization and specific heat methods.
