摘要
Magnesium-based alloys can be enhanced through a combination of annealing temperature and holding time prior to plastic deformation such as single-pass differential speed rolling, where the material is strained and produces fine dynamic recrystallization (DRX) grains improving material strength and hardness. The magnesium (Mg)-based alloy under investigation in this study is Mg5Zn that is preheated at 300 degrees C and rolled to various thickness reductions to analyze the effect of single-pass differential speed rolling on the dynamic recrystallization process and its influence on mechanical properties. The results of this investigation show that single-pass DSR can improve the mechanical properties and formability of Mg5Zn as seen in tensile strength, ductility, and hardness testing, as well as observed in the microstructure analyzed through OM, SEM, and EBSD.
