摘要

•Preservation mode of the Ediacaran Chuaria fossils from the Lantian biota was revisited.•Mixed quartz and Mg-rich aluminosilicates envelope the pyritized fossils.•The enveloped minerals are secondary overgrown, playing no contribution to the initial soft tissue fossilization.
