Hybrid solar desalination system for generation electricity and freshwater with nanofluid application: Energy, exergy, and environmental aspects

•A hybrid solar system was suggested for generation electricity power, and freshwater.•Different nanofluids were examined as the solar working fluid with concentration between 0 and 5% volume fractions.•The ideal system was analyzed and the gains from the use of nanofluids were very small.
