Enhancement of photoluminescence intensity of epoxy thin-film resin by nano graphitic carbon nitride

In this paper, epoxy resin was prepared with graphitic carbon nitride (GCN) via the casting method. Different concentrations of GCN (0.5%, 1%, and 1.5%) were added in the epoxy matrix and studied the effect of filler on the optical properties of the composite. A lower optical bandgap of 2.53 eV harnessing UV and visible light was obtained for 1.5% GCN in an epoxy matrix. Higher optical conductivity was obtained for a higher concentration of GCN in epoxy resin. The structural property and thermal property have been discussed in detail. The room temperature photoluminescence studies indicated enhanced luminescence for a higher concentration of GCN in epoxy resin. The high concentration of GCN creates more traps for electrons hence delayed radiative emission is observed. As this composite possesses excellent optical properties, it could be employed in flat panel displays, LED, optical fibers, and base solar cell plates.
