Post-fire ecological restoration in Latin American forest ecosystems: Insights and lessons from the last two decades

•Alone or in combination, wildfires represent a driving force of forest change in LAC.•Our work summarizes recent findings on post-fire restoration of the last decades.•There is a growing interest in ER from different sectors, but still insufficient.•Globally, information on ER comes mainly from 4 sources (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Mexico)•Works involving active, passive restoration, or socio-economical aspects are considered.•Environmental, technical, and socioeconomic factors are major constraints for ER.
