Control Strategy for a High-Speed Dual Three-Phase Electrical Excitation Synchronous Motor

Different from permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), electrical excitation synchronous motor (EESM) has an additional control degree of freedom, the excitation port, which makes its control more flexible. In this paper, the control strategy of a high-speed dual three-phase (DTP) homopolar inductor motor (HIM) is studied to realize high-torque and high-efficient operation. Firstly, the complete and simplified models of HIM are established. Secondly, based on the control model, the maximum torque control (MTC) method of EESM is studied. Thirdly, for different control strategies, the torque capacity is compared and the appropriate control strategies for high-speed EESM are summarized.
