Analysis of pyrolysis index and reaction mechanism in microwave-assisted ex-situ catalytic co-pyrolysis of agro-residual and plastic wastes

•Ex-situ catalytic co-pyrolysis was performed using two microwave reactors in series.•Co-pyrolysis synergy promoted the gas yields and hydrocarbons in oil product.•Pyrolysis product plausible reaction pathway mechanism was developed.•Pyrolysis index was evaluated to understand the pyrolysis dynamics.•Valuable aliphatic and aromatic compounds were synthesized.
