Use of hypnotics among women diagnosed with cervical cancer – A population-based cohort study

•Women with cervical cancer are more likely to become prolonged users of hypnotics than women without a history of cancer.•Risk factors are higher age, short education, previous antidepressant/anxiolytic use, and advanced disease.•The risk of initiating treatment with hypnotics is increased up to 5 years after cervical cancer diagnosis.
