Abstract
Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a serious psychiatric condition associated with high morbidity and mortality, elevated suicide risk, and few effective treatments. Recent evidence has implicated the kappa opioid receptor (KOR) in both BPD and suicidal behavior. However, relationships between KOR, BPD, and suicidal behavior have not been directly investigated. The present study sought to address this gap by examining the relationship between KOR availability, BPD, and suicidal behavior in vivo using [11C]EKAP PET.
