Predis - state of the art cloud massive forecasting

EDP Inovação (EDPI) and E-Redes (E-REDES) developed a Big Data system - PREDIS - that produces load and generation forecasts for 100k connection points of the E-REDES HV and MV distribution network. The need for expanding the PREDIS platform to all the six million LV connections points created an opportunity for improvements on the initial solution. These improvements were implemented by EDP Digital Unit (EDP DGU) and led to the migration to a cloud-based platform. This paper presents the technical details of the initial solution and the new platform, as well as the performance metrics of the whole process.
