摘要
The most desirable specimens of the most useful of the 45 Prosopis species have suffered severe genetic erosion from over-exploitation for its fine lumber. Genetically broad-based field trials identified superior individuals without spines, faster erect growth, greater salinity tolerance, and high yields of pods that have been propagated asexually. Crosses among elite clones have combined the best traits. A draft genomic sequence has been obtained that will be used to develop molecular markers.
