Nanotechnology provides methods to explore the physical, chemical, and biological properties of nanomaterials. The nanoparticles (1–100 nm) are small but could solve huge problems in the environment, agriculture, textile, food, and biomedical industries. Among the nanoparticles, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are frequently used in various applications due to their unique physicochemical properties. However, the toxicity and specific activities lead to limitations in its utilization in different industrial applications. Hence, the cytotoxicity of the AgNPs can be reduced through surface modifications using the secondary metabolites, proteins, enzymes, other natural and synthetic substances. Furthermore, the specific action of AgNPs has been improved through fabricating them with other metals and biomaterials. The fabricated core-shell silver nanoparticles (CS-AgNPs) were found to be promising in various biomedical and industrial applications. Hence, this chapter highlights the overview of the synthesis, characterization, and biomedical applications of CS-AgNPs.
