摘要
Snakebite envenoming is a potentially fatal Neglected Tropical Disease which occurs when fangs connected to a venom duct penetrate human skin releasing zootoxins. It has been reported in over 100 countries, increasing as venomous snakes are becoming widely available as pets (World Health Organization, 2019). Clinical consequences depend on various factors, including the species of snake, patient factors, and access to an appropriate antivenom (Ahmed et al., 2008). Snakebite envenoming can result in both local and systemic manifestations. The pathophysiology of Physiopathology of cardiovascular (CV) involvement consequences has not been fully elucidated due to the low frequency of cardiotoxicity combined with a lack of robust information, as snakebites commonly occur in rural/remote areas without the infrastructure to collect detailed data (World Health Organization, 2019; Harrison et al., 2009; Bhatt et al., 2013; Cupo et al., 2003; Karlson-Stiber et al., 2006; Nelwan et al., 2016; Noutsos et al., 2020; Suchithra et al., 2008). CV implications are associated with high mortality when not detected early, thus it is essential that clinicians in endemic areas are able to detect and treat them promptly (Bhatt et al., 2013; Cupo et al., 2003; Karlson-Stiber et al., 2006; Nelwan et al., 2016; Noutsos et al., 2020; Suchithra et al., 2008; John Binu et al., 2019).
