摘要
Myofunctional therapy describes a set of exercises that focus on increasing the muscle tone of the oral and oropharyngeal airway. It has also been termed myofascial reeducation, orofacial, upper airway exercises myotherapy, oropharyngeal exercises throughout the literature. There are many benefits of MT in adults including improving quality of life, reducing objective measures of OSA severity, and perhaps increasing CPAP adherence. In pediatrics, MT may also be useful adjunct to surgical tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy in decreasing OSA severity. MT is a non-invasive, feasible and effective treatment option that requires further research and investigation.
