Experimental Research on subcarrier index power modulation OFDM for visible light communication system.

In this paper, we experimentally demonstrate an VLC system using optical OFDM with subcarrier index-power modulation (SIPM-OFDM). The experimental results show that the SIPM-OFDM can achieve a better BER performance than the conventional 8PSK-OFDM when the power ratio is 3. And at the same time, the signal bit rate of the SIPM-OFDM gives rise to 3.3Gb/s, which significantly exceed the 8PSK encoded OFDM signal bit rate by approximately 17%. And the spectral efficiency of the SIPM-OFDM is also increased to 2.64b/s/Hz.
