Equivalent Heart Model for Intracardiac Communication Channel Analysis

In order to construct a multi-node leadless cardiac pacemaker system based on galvanic coupled intra-body communication, the intracardiac communication channel should be analyzed. In this paper, an equivalent heart model is proposed to estimate the characteristics of intracardiac communication channels in the frequency range of 10kHz-10MHz. The model contains only two layers of tissue: blood and heart muscle, and four chambers are divided inside. Then the model is combined with the circuits, which are equivalent to the input and output impedance of the measuring equipment. The finite element method is used to calculate the model. The simulation results show that the attenuation fluctuation of intracardiac communication channel is very small, and the attenuation is almost independent of frequency. The measurement results are in good agreement with the simulation results. This work provides a new idea of heart modeling.
