This cover image designed by Di Zhao and Huiqin Liu delineates the preparation of functional silk fibers (SFs) by microencapsulation technology. This review describes the principles and techniques for the preparation of functional microcapsules. Functional SFs can be obtained by microcapsule finishing and printing technology, and even by electrospinning based on silk fibroin solution.
