Effect of Si on the Glass-Forming Ability, Magnetic, and Mechanical Properties of FePC Glassy Alloy

摘要
The glass-forming ability, soft magnetic properties, and mechanical properties of Fe 80 P 12- x C 8 Si x ( x = 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4) ribbons are investigated by various techniques. It is found that the glass-forming ability of Fe-based ribbons has been improved obviously with Si addition. The saturation magnetization ( M S ) of the ribbons increases gradually with increasing Si content ( c Si ), and their coercivity ( H C ) tends to decrease, which is consistent with the change of their nearest atomic neighboring distance ( r 1 ). The Young's modulus, hardness, and wear resistance of the ribbons have also been significantly improved with adding Si, which will be helpful to explore a new type of Fe-based amorphous alloy with excellent soft magnetic properties and high ductility.
