Efficient Novel FeOCl/C with High Singlet Oxygen Generation for TCH Degradation

In recent decades, heterogeneous catalysis system, especially constructed by Fe-based catalysts and persulfate, has attracted more attention for the degradation of organic contaminants. Here, a carbon-doped FeOCl synthesized PDS was selected as a photo-assisted system for Tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) degradation with high singlet oxygen production. The existence of C contributed to the improvement of calculated Fe (II) content from 11.3% to 40.4% and then improved its oxidation activity. More than 99% of TCH (20 mg/L) could be degraded with 0.2 g/L catalysts, 1 mM PDS in 6 min with the irradiation of visible light. This study provided a simple, economical, and efficient system with broad application prospects for organic contaminants degradation.
