•Quaternion empirical wavelet transform (QEWT) is proposed to process multi-channel signals.•The minimum values of the spectrum trend are used to divide the boundaries.•Meyer wavelets are used to construct filters and reconstruct signals.•QEWT can process multi-channel signals from different positions or multi-dimensional sensors.
