Halogenation of heterobimetallic triple-decker complexes containing an E5 middle deck (E = P, As)

The halogenation of the heterobimetallic triple-decker complexes [(Cp*Fe)(Cp‴Co)(µ,η5:η4-E5)] (E = P, As) shows that the reaction provides different products depending on the halogen and on the nature of the pnictogen used. I2 and Br2 lead to similar nortricylane-like derivatives with phosphorus and to homometallic triple-decker compounds with arsenic.
