•NADES investigation using both experimental and modeling methods.•COSMOThermX and AIM were used to investigate how HBAs and HBDs combine and interact.•NADES' components, and water molecules, formed hydrogen bonds.•The computed FTIR spectra agreed with the experimental one.•Curcumin was more soluble in ChCl:Gly NADES than in water.
