Zinc(II) and copper(II) complexes constructed from new bis(1H-1,2,3-triazole-4-carboxylate)-based ligands

•Triazolyl-4-carboxylic acids have been successfully synthesized in good yields.•A diphenylsulfone structure anchored to 4-carboxylate-1,2,3-triazole groups is able to provide different Cu(II) and Zn(II) coordination polymers.•Bis(1,2,3-triazole-4-carboxylate) ligands with a phenylene spacer led to the formation of different mono and dinuclear complexes of Cu(II) and Zn(II).
