Gamma radioactivity and Environmental radiation risks of Granitoids in Central and Western Gilgit-Baltistan, Himalayas, North Pakistan

摘要
•A Gamma-Ray spectrometer was used for the calculation of health hazards in rocks in the Gilgit-Baltistan region, North Pakistan.•The Radioactivity measurements in twenty-three rock samples which are found to be highly radioactive.•According to statistical analysis, all radiological health hazards have a strong positive correlation among the radiological health hazards.•Based on 226Ra, 232Th, and 40K values indoor and outdoor health hazards and Excessive Lifetime Cancer Risk (ELCR) were calculated.•The study aims to provide baseline data of radionuclides concentrations which would serve as a standard for further detailed research in the Gilgit Baltistan region.
