•Solid components obtained from multi-Gaussian T2G decay using solid-echo.•Liquid components obtained from multi-exponential T2e decay using CPMG.•Resulting T1-T2 map separates solid and liquid components in organic-rich chalk.•Bitumen swells after heptane saturation and is expelled from kerogen to pores.•Expelled bitumen content is larger than solvent-extracted bitumen content.
