The relationship between emotion dysregulation and suicide ideation and behaviour: A systematic review

•Twenty-one original articles were identified in the systematic review.•There is a positive association between emotion dysregulation and suicidal ideation and attempts.•Emotion dysregulation did not predict suicidality when controlling for covariates.•The majority of studies used cross-sectional data thus causality cannot be inferred.•Longitudinal research is required in this area.
