Phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K, p110α) is a master regulator of exercise-induced heart growth. Transgenic mice with increased cardiac PI3K activity develop physiological hypertrophic growth and are protected following cardiac insults. The aim of this study was to develop and characterise novel PI3K-based gene therapies for the failing heart.
