Intrusive sampling of dust deposition in a granular bed filter-cyclone coupled separator

•Intrusive sampling method is firstly used in the novel coupled separator.•The dust deposition percentage is thoroughly investigated in the axial/radial/tangential direction.•The deposited dust size distributions present a bimodal distribution due to the cyclone shell.•The local filtration efficiency is proposed for better evaluation on the built-in granular bed filter.
